EU Electronics

European union (EU) member countries clearly specify that as of July 2006 the Restriction of Hazardous Substance (RoHS) directive and the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) directive will apply to all imported electronic products. According to the RoHS specification, hazardous substances contained in the electronic materials such as lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), mercury (Hg), hexavalent chromium (Cr+6) and bromine series flame retardant are all listed as prohibited substances.

For electronic products imported to the EU, they will first be inspected for heavy metals such as Pb, Cd, Hg, Cr+6, Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) and Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) contained in electronic materials.
